What is breastfeeding medicine?

Breastfeeding medicine is the medical care of breastfeeding and lactation problems, taking a holistic and comprehensive approach to caring for the parent and baby together. It draws on general practice, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, endocrinology, dermatology and psychiatry.

Qualifications

What is an IBCLC?

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a health professional who has completed more than 1,000 hours of clinical practice, 90 hours of lactation education and a comprehensive exam. It is the most widely recognised lactation qualification. Every doctor in our directory is a registered medical practitioner, and many also hold the IBCLC qualification.
