Qualifications and services

• Registered medical practitioner

  A doctor registered with Ahpra (the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), with additional expertise in breastfeeding medicine.

• Also an IBCLC (lactation consultant)

  An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a health professional who has completed more than 1,000 hours of clinical practice, 90 hours of lactation education and a comprehensive exam. It is the most widely recognised lactation qualification. Every doctor in our directory is a registered medical practitioner, and many also hold the IBCLC qualification.

• Performs tongue-tie release

  This doctor assesses babies for tongue-tie and other oral restrictions, and performs a release (frenotomy) when it is needed. Not every feeding problem is caused by tongue-tie, so a full feeding assessment comes first.

• Offers telehealth

  Some appointments can happen by video or phone, which can help if you live a long way from the practice or find it hard to travel with a new baby.
